"Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." -Albert Einstein
I started gymnastics in the second grade, making this my ninth year of training. I have competed for seven years. All these years of gymnastics have taught me many valuable lessons like discipline, perseverance, and independence. Gymnastics helped me find my passion and personality. It also taught me to keep going even when I'm tired. I know it will benefit me in the long run to train when I'm weak. I train because strength is important. I push myself and others around me to do the best we can do.
When my coaches picked one word to describe me they picked "determined." They say I train harder and want it more than anyone else in the gym. I feel that the word they chose is a good one. I do feel like my strongest and most showing quality is my determination. I push and push because I don't want to stop until I have achieved my goal. I am determined to get what I want no matter how crazy my dreams are.
I plan on taking my gymnastics career to college. It is my dream to compete on a college team. As one of the oldest people on the team, I am a good leader and I know college gymnasts need to be good leaders and role models. One of my former teammates is on the gymnastics team at Auburn University. Watching her train for five years has definitely helped with my gymnastics and prepared me for my future training. I would love to do gymnastics for as long as I can and maybe coach when I retire from the sport as an athlete. My coaches have instructed me in the fields of coaching and training, so I feel that wherever I choose to take the lessons this sport has given me it will be worth my time.
